  General Notes:

Arthur and Selina lived in Kincardine, Ashfield township, Bruce County, Ontario. Selina was married to Art in 1866 and was the daughter of James Switzer. The family visited often in later years with Eliza and Tom Hill's family. (Eliza was the daughter of Richard McBurney, Art's brother) Selina was pretty sharp. It was said that anything she missed wasn't worth much. She was almost blind, as was most of the family. (According to Vera Scott in a letter in the late 1970's) They had seven children: Tom, Mary, William, John (Jack), Joe, Alfred, and Walter. Selina is buried in Kincardine Cemetery, Block E, Lot 35. ^1,15

From the obituary of William McBurney:
William and his family set sail from Ireland in a sailing vessel, which took upward of two months in crossing the Atlantic (Ocean), they landed at Little York, now Toronto and took up their first residence at Beverly, not far from Woodstock, from which place they came into the woods in the year of the "Sale of the Land," in 1848, and settled on Lot 31, Concession 6, Kinloss.

NOTE: The 1851 Census of Canada shows the family (John and Mary with children Hugh, Richard, James Arthur, John, and William) still living in Beverly Township of Wentworth County. The 1861 Census shows them living in Kinloss.

James married Selina Angela Switzer, daughter of James Maurice Switzer and Martha Rebekah Simpson, on 12 Oct 1866 in Wawanosh Twp, Huron Co, Ontario, Canada ^1,15,47.^,50 (Selina Angela Switzer was born on 23 Feb 1844,^1,15,97 died on 14 Nov 1931 in Kincardine Twp., Bruce County, Ontario, Canada ^1,15,92,97 and was buried in Kincardine Twp., Bruce County, Ontario, Canada.) The cause of her death was Old Age.⁹²
